Job summary

athenahealth seeks a Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing to lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives with a strong focus on technology and professional services. You will leverage benchmarking, cost modelling, and rigorous negotiation to deliver measurable savings and optimized commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years in strategic sourcing/procurement, ideally in technology and professional services.
• Proven success leading high‑value sourcing initiatives, complex negotiations and cost modelling.
• Strong financial, analytical, and commercial acumen.
• Advanced knowledge of cost structures, pricing models, contracts and category economics.
• Experience with sourcing tools, procurement systems, and analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end strategic sourcing initiatives using a structured 5–7 step process.
• Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned with business priorities.
• Translate business requirements into sourcing strategies balancing cost, risk, speed and value.
• Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and supplier landscape assessments.
• Design and manage RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs; lead proposal and bid analysis.
• Develop negotiation strategies and lead complex commercial negotiations with Legal and stakeholders.
• Partner with Finance for ROI/TCO modeling and business case development; track savings and value realization.
