athenahealth is seeking a Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing to lead end-to-end initiatives across technology (software, SaaS, IT services) and professional services, applying a disciplined 5–7 step methodology to deliver measurable savings. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Finance, Business, or a related field (preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, ideally within technology and professional services categories.
• Strong financial, analytical, and commercial acumen.
• Advanced knowledge of cost structures, pricing models, contracts, and category economics.
• Experience with sourcing tools, procurement systems, and analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives using a structured 5–7 step sourcing methodology (intake, requirements definition, benchmarking, strategy, bidding, negotiation, award).
• Develop category sourcing strategies aligned with business priorities and enterprise standards.
• Translate business requirements into sourcing strategies balancing cost, risk, speed, and value.
• Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to understand cost drivers and leverage opportunities.
• Design and manage competitive sourcing events (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) and perform bid analysis.
• Develop negotiation strategies and lead complex commercial negotiations with Legal and stakeholders.
• Partner with Finance to support ROI, TCO, and business-case development; quantify savings and improvements.
