Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Lead to own OpenAI’s Professional Services category strategy and execute complex sourcing initiatives. You will partner with Finance, Legal, People, Extended Workforce, and business teams to translate needs into clear sourcing strategies, master services agreements, and compliant, value-driven engagements.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA with a hybrid model (three days in the office per week) and relocation assistance for new hires.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
• Experience leading Professional Services category strategy end-to-end.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex service agreements and master services agreements.
• Ability to work with cross-functional leaders (Finance, Legal, People, Extended Workforce).
• Track record turning data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Professional Services category strategy and execution roadmap.
• Manage multiple complex sourcing workstreams end to end.
• Build trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders and clarify tradeoffs.
• Lead complex negotiations and design fit-for-purpose commercial structures.
• Build scalable category mechanisms and governance processes.
• Strengthen the supplier ecosystem through competitive sourcing and governance.
• Collaborate with Finance and Accounting to improve spend visibility and forecasting.
• Partner with Legal, People, and Extended Workforce to manage risk and compliance.
• Produce executive-ready reporting on pipeline, savings, and value realization.
• Drive disciplined execution with clear documentation and process improvements.
• Leverage AI to redesign sourcing workflows for speed and quality.
