Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Lead to own and execute the Professional Services category strategy, collaborating with Finance, Legal, People, and Extended Workforce to translate needs into clear sourcing plans.

This hands-on, high-velocity role requires managing complex end-to-end deals, negotiating master services agreements, and building scalable category mechanisms while balancing speed, value, and risk. The position is based in San Francisco with hybrid work and relocation support.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
• Experience owning Professional Services category strategy end-to-end.
• Proven ability to lead complex, high-stakes negotiations.
• Experience building category operating mechanisms and governance.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Professional Services category strategy and execution roadmap.
• Manage multiple complex sourcing workstreams end to end.
• Build trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders and clarify tradeoffs.
• Lead complex negotiations and design commercial structures (MSAs, SOWs, pricing).
• Build scalable category mechanisms (intake, tiering, playbooks, supplier governance).
• Strengthen supplier ecosystem through competitive sourcing and value realization plans.
• Collaborate with Finance/Accounting to improve spend visibility and contracts alignment.
• Collaborate with Legal/People/Extended Workforce to manage risk and guardrails.
