Central Garden & Pet is seeking a Strategic Buyer with an Engineering background to lead sourcing and supplier management for third-party contract manufacturers. The role focuses on driving continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction programs, supplier performance management, and commercial contract negotiations while partnering with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in Purchasing.
• Data-driven decisions across multi-year plans and cross-functional teams.
• CPM or CPSM certification is a plus; SAP experience is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for outsourced manufacturing of finished products.
• Manage relationships with third-party contract manufacturers and strategic suppliers.
• Lead supplier selection, RFQ/RFP processes, supplier benchmarking, and sourcing decisions.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms and conditions, tooling agreements, and long-term supply agreements.
• Monitor supplier KPIs including cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and inventory performance.
• Partner with contract manufacturers to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate executive-level supplier business reviews and corrective action plans.
• Work with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams on new product introductions and transitions.
