Job summary

Hawaiian Electric is seeking a Safety Program Manager to lead safety initiatives across Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island. This role focuses on developing, promoting, and sustaining a culture of safety within the organization, coordinating with multiple departments, and delivering training and presentations.

The position requires 5+ years in program management within safety contexts, strong leadership and communication skills, and PMP is highly desirable. Hiring range is $99,900 to $127,500.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of project and program management principles normally acquired through college-level training and/or certification.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, HIOSH, DOT, DOH, PUC, NIOSH rules, regulations and guidelines related to safety issues.
• Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of general electrical utility safety & health practices and industrial hygiene principles.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and manages all program activity including planning, budgeting, design/development of written program, approval, implementation, presentation and training, and monitoring of safety programs.
• Develops strategies to attain safety program goals and monitors programs for early problem identification.
• Acts as the focal point for safety program matters and conducts training for internal and external groups.
• Establishes measurable metrics to monitor program effectiveness and presents progress to all levels of employees.
• Coordinates with multiple HECO and HELCO/MECO process areas to obtain approvals and support for safety program implementation.
