Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of best practices in achieving superior safety performance.
• Working knowledge of HiOSH, Federal OSHA, DOT, DOH, PUC, NIOSH rules and guidelines.
• Working knowledge of Hawaiian Electric’s information systems and tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain certifications such as first aid, CPR, crane inspector, respirator-related credentials.

Responsibilities

• In partnership with operations management, remove barriers to safety compliance with applicable requirements.
• Inspect workplace environments to ensure compliance and develop updated safety programs and procedures.
• Develop and review safety policies, write procedures, and disseminate information to reduce risks.
• Oversee training program development and annual training goals and assessments.
• Monitor and support safety activities, investigations, and corrective action plans.
• Research, develop, and analyze safety metrics for management.
• Investigate accidents to identify root causes and reduce recurrence.
• Conduct asbestos/lead monitoring and related training program activities.
