Job summary

J.B. Poindexter & Co., Inc. is seeking a Safety Program Manager to design, coordinate, and implement occupational health and safety policies across the organization.

The role requires leading audits, driving a robust safety culture, and partnering with multiple business units to embed safety in operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management, data-driven decision making, and practical application of regulations such as OSHA and EPA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, manufacturing, engineering (safety engineering preferred), or a related field.
• At least 3 years of occupational health and safety or safety management in an industrial setting, with experience in manufacturing environments and auditing.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing successful safety programs and initiatives.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence others at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex safety concepts to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Ability to travel domestically 25-30%.
• Accelerated computer skills; ability to adapt quickly to computer software programs with proficiency in Microsoft Office Package.
• Strategic thinker and problem solver.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented and extremely organized.
• Strong project management skills.
• Ability to interpret governmental safety and environmental regulations (i.e., OSHA, EPA), and provide practical application of regulations.

Responsibilities

• Establish safety policies and procedures aligned with laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Develop a corporate safety calendar and deliver content to all business units.
• Build a company-wide ergonomics program with third-party partners and medical staff.
• Monitor safety performance by analyzing data for trends and risks.
• Promote a culture of safety excellence and accountability.
• Develop safety strategies incorporating HOP and VPP elements.
• Participate in internal EHS audits and inspections.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and service providers.
• Stay informed about industry trends and regulations and implement best practices.
• Collaborate with leadership, operations, HR, legal, and risk management to integrate safety into processes.
• Assist with coordinating programs like machine guarding, combustible dust, and industrial hygiene.
• Partner with units and procurement to select vendors and implement service agreements.
