Job summary

J.B. Poindexter & Co., Inc. is seeking a Safety Program Manager to develop and implement occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and training across the organization, driving risk reduction and compliance.

You will lead audits, build a company-wide safety calendar, and partner with operations, HR, legal, and procurement to deploy programs, from machine guarding to ergonomic initiatives, with a focus on data-driven safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, manufacturing, engineering (safety engineering preferred), or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in industrial safety management with manufacturing and auditing experience.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing safety programs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Willingness to travel domestically 25–30%.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish safety policies and procedures compliant with laws and best practices.
• Develop a corporate safety calendar and deliver content to units.
• Build an ergonomics program with 3rd-party partners and medical staff.
• Monitor safety performance, analyze data for trends and risks.
• Foster a culture of safety through accountability and continuous improvement.
• Develop a safety strategy incorporating HOP and VPP elements.
• Participate in internal EHS audits and inspections.
• Deliver safety training for employees, contractors, and service providers.
• Stay informed on regulations and industry trends to drive best practices.
• Collaborate with leadership, operations, HR, legal, and risk management.
• Coordinate company-wide programs like machine guarding, combustible dust, and industrial hygiene.
• Partner with units and procurement to select vendors for safety services.
