Job summary

Vanderbilt University is seeking an Associate Director of Research Development to map the university’s research strengths to federal, state, industry, and private foundation opportunities and to assist faculty in preparing complex grant proposals.

This role reports to the Executive Director for Research Development and collaborates with Associate Deans across colleges and networked campuses to execute strategy for increased external sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is necessary.
• Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
• Eight years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Higher education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise leadership and faculty on funding and partnership opportunities.
• Provide consulting on proposal development and planning.
• Coordinate cross‑disciplinary teams to pursue opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with sponsors and expand new prospects.
• Organize workshops and briefing materials for university leaders.
