Job summary

Goodwin Procter is seeking an Attorney Development Manager in New York. You will drive development and engagement for associates and timekeepers, partnering with partners and Practice Management to align progress with firm goals and culture of elite performance.

You will lead onboarding, allocate assignments, gather feedback for career progression, and support strategic staffing initiatives across the firm’s global operations team.

Qualifications

• J.D. strongly preferred with a solid foundation in legal principles.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a large law firm or similar setting.
• Experience in staffing, workforce planning, or attorney development is highly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders.
• Discretion, judgment, and strong organizational capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Attorney cohort management: oversee day-to-day development, performance, and engagement.
• Onboarding & integration: lead onboarding to ensure smooth culture and workflows.
• Resource allocation: align attorney skills with client work and firm priorities.
• Development & performance management: synthesize feedback for career progression.
• Strategic & advisory support: collaborate on hiring, onboarding, and advancement.
• Training: identify needs and deliver targeted programming and learning plans.
• Cross-functional collaboration & engagement: promote inclusion and participation.
• Policy awareness & compliance: ensure understanding of firm policies and procedures.
