Job summary

First Quality in Macon, GA, is seeking a Raw Materials Buyer to support manufacturing operations by sourcing diversified commodities with an emphasis on quality and cost control.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, procurement experience in manufacturing, strong communication skills, and proficiency with ERP systems (SAP or JD Edwards/PeopleSoft) and MS Office. You’ll coordinate with suppliers, QA, and accounts payable to ensure timely, accurate material deliveries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent.
• Preferred prior work experience in a procurement role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong experience with ERP systems (SAP or JD Edwards / PeopleSoft).

Responsibilities

• Generates and communicates raw material purchase orders to suppliers based on MRP requirements issued by Planning.
• Expedites delivery of raw material orders, follows up on back orders, and coordinates with the warehouse on receipt of materials.
• Initiates the Purchasing Info Records within the ERP system, confirming pricing, lead time and order quantities with suppliers.
• Coordinates with suppliers on raw material non-conformities, develops Supplier Scorecards, and manages Quality Certifications.
• Coordinates with Accounts Payable to verify invoice discrepancies related to quantity or price.
• Follows GMP, FDA and ISO regulations and guidelines.
• Observes all safety rules and uses proper PPE.
