Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD, is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to lead our purchasing team and drive sourcing strategies across the organization. You will partner with Production, Accounts Payable, and QA to ensure material availability, accurate POs, and timely supplier credits, while building strong supplier relationships.

You will mentor staff, optimize inventory, and implement contingency plans to mitigate supply disruption risks, with a focus on cost efficiency and value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, business, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in purchasing or procurement (manufacturing preferred) with leadership experience.
• Proficiency in purchasing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification; familiarity with Logility.

Responsibilities

• Direct, coach, and mentor the Purchasing team, managing daily tasks, performance evaluations, and staffing needs while promoting a positive, accountable work environment.
• Develop purchasing strategies, optimize inventory levels, identify single-source vulnerabilities, and implement contingency plans to mitigate supply disruption risks.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and pricing terms to ensure the best overall value.
• Partner with Production and Operations to ensure material availability; work with Accounts Payable to resolve three-way matching discrepancies and approve POs; and collaborate with QA to manage NCRs, Return to Vendor processes, and supplier credits.
• Analyze market trends, monitor supplier performance, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
• Track and report on core purchasing metrics, including PPV, OTIF delivery, supplier lead times, and inventory turnover.
