Job summary
The High Companies is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead all procurement, inventory planning, materials management, and production scheduling at the High Steel Service Center. You will balance local needs with enterprise procurement strategies and drive cost optimization and supplier collaboration.
You will report to the VP of Procurement & Sustainability and work with cross-functional teams to ensure supply, quality, and timely delivery while advancing sustainability initiatives and process
Qualifications
- 5–8 years in procurement or related field
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years leadership experience
- ERP experience, SAP preferred
- Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Must be detail oriented and have good communication skills
- Travel up to 10% supported
Responsibilities
- Lead category and sourcing strategies for steel, transportation, and operations spend
- Identify and execute cost optimization and supplier consolidation initiatives
- Support supplier risk management, continuity planning, and strategic sourcing
- Develop strategic supplier partnerships and conduct periodic business reviews
- Lead production scheduling and planning functions
- Coordinate with procurement playbook relevance to market conditions
- Support sustainability assessments aligned with enterprise objectives
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and finance to align planning and budget
- Mitigate supplier, market, and supply continuity risks
- Coach team through performance management and continuous improvement
