Job summary

LMT Defense is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement strategies, supplier negotiations, and governance for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The role emphasizes cross-functional leadership and strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include managing the purchasing team, optimizing the PO lifecycle, and ensuring supplier performance with ITAR/ATF requirements while maintaining traceability of serialized parts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field or CPM/CPSM certification.
• Minimum of 5 years procurement or supply chain experience, including 3 years in leadership.
• Strong leadership, team development, and relationship management skills.
• Strategic mindset focused on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement analytics.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and contract law.
• Experience in strategic sourcing and supplier development in manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals and supply chain objectives.
• Lead and develop the Purchasing team, including training and performance management.
• Oversee full purchase order lifecycle for accuracy, timeliness, cost-effectiveness and compliance.
• Conduct market and supplier analysis to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Finance and other teams to forecast demand and manage inventory.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with laws and internal policies including ITAR and ATF requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, systems and supplier performance.
• Prepare and present procurement reports, metrics, and KPIs to senior leadership.
• Represent the company in supplier negotiations and high-level meetings.
• Perform supplier background checks and ensure legal eligibility and compliance for firearm components.
• Maintain traceability of serialized parts per ATF requirements.
• Ensure documentation and records for purchases and compliance are complete.
• Develop contingency plans and backup suppliers to mitigate risks.
• Perform other duties as requested by Supply Chain Manager or leadership.
