Job summary

Crawford Electric Supply in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead our purchasing team across regional branches. You will develop policies, manage vendor relationships, negotiate terms, optimize inventory, and ensure cost-effective procurement to support customers and operations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in electrical distribution purchasing, supervisory experience, and strong communication skills. Eclipse experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of electrical products and distribution industry.
• At least 5 years buying experience, with a minimum of 2 years as a supervisor of a purchasing department or supervising other personnel.
• Eclipse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop purchasing department policies and procedures for buyers and other branch personnel to follow. Assure appropriate department records are maintained.
• Participate in RFP process to recommend or approve selection of major vendors. Assess vendor capabilities and evaluate vendor performance through established "scorecard" method.
• Establish and develop professional relationships with vendors, manufacturers and agents.
• Negotiate terms of major vendor contracts or orders.
• Review branch product lines and secure competitive pricing.
• Establish policies that allow us to maintain minimum inventory levels while avoiding shortages of necessary materials to service our customers.
