Job summary

AVL USA INC. is seeking a Purchaser-Buyer in Charlotte, NC to negotiate prices and prepare purchase orders for parts, materials, and services.

The role requires reading technical drawings, evaluating costs, and coordinating with Engineering and cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will source metal materials for fabrication and support vendor management, with strong negotiation skills and ERP/MRP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires a relevant college degree.
• Ability to read blueprints and/or schematics.
• Purchasing experience in a custom manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and ERP software; Infor Visual Mfg preferred.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and negotiation skills.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Detail-oriented, able to multi-task and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare RFQs and POs, read and understand technical drawings, and analyze material costs.
• Collaborate with Engineering and cross-functional teams; familiarity with local suppliers of engineered products and services.
• Source various metal materials for fabrication, machining, and welding with mechanical/electrical/hydraulic parts.
• Negotiate price, credit terms, discounts and delivery arrangements with suppliers.
• Evaluate vendors for cost and quality using established vendor questionnaires with QA coordination.
• Maintain vendor relationships and assist other departments with vendor issues.
• Assist accounting in resolving vendor invoicing discrepancies and approve for payment.
• Track, monitor and maintain PO deliveries to meet production schedules.
• Store PO and vendor contract information in a structured ERP/MRP repository.
• Maintain Vendor and Part data in the ERP/MRP system.
• Participate in annual inventory counts.
• Follow policies and work instructions to ensure purchasing runs smoothly and cost-effectively.
• Participate in development and implementation of continuous improvement methodologies.
