Job summary

AVL in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Purchaser-Buyer to negotiate prices, prepare POs, and read technical drawings for material costs. You will work with Engineering and cross-functional teams to source metal materials for fabrication, machining, and welding, coordinating with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and strong vendor performance.

The role requires a relevant college degree, experience in manufacturing purchasing, and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel.

Qualifications

This role requires a relevant college degree and purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Candidate should understand blueprints or schematics and analyze material costs.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and ERP software is expected.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Prepare RFQs and POs and read technical drawings to analyze material costs.
Collaborate with Engineering and cross-functional teams and source materials.
Sourcing metal materials for fabrication and welding, assembled with mechanical parts.
Negotiate price, terms, discounts, and delivery with suppliers.
Assist in vendor evaluation and performance coordination with Quality.
Maintain vendor contracts and ensure on-time deliveries to production.
Keep ERP/MRP data accurate and participate in annual inventory counts.
