Job summary

The Tommy Nelson division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing seeks a highly organized Managing Editor to oversee production planning, data integrity, and process improvements from initial opportunities through finished products. This role interfaces with editorial, marketing, and creative teams, driving timely, high-quality deliverables within budget.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of publishing processes, including production, scheduling, and financial management.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Extensive project management experience and planning ability.
• Experience with project management software and data systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of the Christian publishing industry and editorial practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Data management and integrity across project lifecycles, including ISBN setup and data updates.
• Manage project schedules in Asana and collaborate with editorial teams to meet KPIs.
• Work with production on product specs and pricing.
• Assess risks early and adjust plans to maximize opportunities.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth project execution.
• Participate in editorial meetings to improve workflows and efficiency.
• Oversee financial oversight, vendor setup, and invoice processing.
• Track contracts and ensure adherence to approval processes.
• Support sales and marketing with accurate data and event/calendar management.
• Oversee transitions to POD when required and manage title reporting.
