Job summary

HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s Tommy Nelson division seeks a highly organized Managing Editor to streamline processes from production planning to finished books. You will coordinate with editorial, marketing, and creative teams while ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables within budget, in a fast-paced publishing environment.

The role supports hybrid work in Nashville, TN or Grand Rapids, MI, with remote options for qualified candidates; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of publishing processes, including production, scheduling, and financial management.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Extensive project management and planning ability.
• Experience with RSuite, Global Works Tool, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Understanding of the Christian publishing industry and editorial practices.

Responsibilities

• Set up ISBNs and data updates; ensure data integrity throughout product lifecycles.
• Set up schedules in Asana for new publishing projects and lead timely deliverables.
• Collaborate with production on specifications and pricing.
• Assess risks early and provide strategic insight to inform decisions.
• Document production plans and maintain cross-department relationships.
• Participate in Managing Editorial Meetings to improve workflow and efficiency.
• Manage P&L development, approvals, and vendor setup; oversee invoices and advances.
• Track contract requests and ensure compliance with approval processes.
• Support Sales & Marketing with conference data, calendars, and title announcements.
• Review reprint requests and manage POD transitions when required.
• Map titles in the Global Works Tool and maintain archive for the publishing group.
• Pull financial reports and interpret data.
