Job summary

Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors (NALHD) seeks a strategic, collaborative Executive Director to guide the organization into its next phase. Reporting to the Board, the ED will champion the mission, strengthen partnerships, influence policy, and advance innovative solutions that improve health outcomes for Nebraska communities.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary change agent, able to unite diverse perspectives around a shared vision for healthier communities and to navigate

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive leadership/management experience, with staff and board collaboration.
• Proven ability to build external relationships with volunteers, public leaders, partners and stakeholders.
• Understanding of differences between large urban health agencies and small rural departments.
• Demonstrated success navigating public policy and coalitions at state/federal levels.
• Experience writing and reporting on grants (federal, state, private).
• Preferred Master’s degree in public health or health administration, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the association as chief executive under the Board of Directors.
• Champion mission and advance public health initiatives through strategic goals.
• Build coalitions and engage with state officials and the public to shape policy.
• Oversee staff management, fundraising, and grant reporting.
• Represent the organization with diverse partners and stakeholders.
