Job summary

Chapman and Cutler LLP seeks a Business Development Manager, Proposals and Pursuits, to lead RFP, pitch, and pursuit efforts within the Marketing and Business Development Department. You will partner with the Director of Business Development to improve the end-to-end pursuit workflow and content repository, coordinating with attorneys and BD staff to differentiate the firm.

You will supervise and mentor staff, apply competitive intelligence, and use AI to create efficiencies in the response

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience preparing proposals, pitch decks, and other business pursuit presentations.
• Experience analyzing RFPs and preparing responses, including narrative, pricing, and disclosures.
• Superior writing, editing, proofreading, and visual storytelling skills.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office products, particularly PowerPoint and Word.
• Strong graphic design sense and layout; experience with InDesign and Photoshop.
• Familiarity with proprietary marketing databases such as Foundation is a plus.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Proven project management skills; self-starter with initiative.
• Organized, detailed, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own all aspects of the RFP response process from notice to submission.
• Produce proposal and pitch documents with content editing and design.
• Serve as primary liaison for online proposal portals and coordinate responses.
• Advise on best practices for each pitch opportunity and manage go/no-go decisions.
• Prepare pitch books and qualification statements in Word and PowerPoint.
• Ensure updated content flows into data sources and marketing materials.
• Track pitch outcomes and drive improvements in response standards.
