Job summary

MS Technology is seeking a detail-oriented Project/Staff Accountant to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN. You will prepare financial project reports, manage billing and accounts payable, and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.

The role requires strong accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple projects in a government contracting environment, with experience in Unanet preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or other related discipline preferred.
• Experience with Unanet or other accounting software preferred.
• Working knowledge of multi-entity reporting is preferred.
• Experience working in government contracting (DOE, DOD) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Project Administration: Setup & maintenance of projects with Unanet; establish cost codes, billing rates, and financial parameters; provide timely project-level financial information.
• Billing/AR: Prepare customer billings; update billing spreadsheets; monitor accounts receivable; interface with customers to resolve issues.
• General Accounting: Support GL reporting; assist in Month End Close; handle audits and process improvements.
• Timekeeping: Assist in timesheet intake; ensure hours allocated per guidelines; communicate with employees; troubleshoot timekeeping system.
• Payables: Receive project-related vendor invoices; verify invoices against purchasing documents; ensure G/L coding and approvals; enter invoices; interface with vendors.
