Job summary

Border States in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Project Manager to lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of complex customer projects, exercising independent judgement in interpreting specifications, determining material strategies, and resolving project-critical issues for profitability and on-time delivery.

The role partners with Account Managers, Business Development, and sales teams to align project goals with pricing, vendor terms, and company objectives.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years in customer service, quotation or sales with strong electrical products knowledge.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement on complex project and technical issues.
  • Experience managing project financials, pricing strategies, and vendor negotiations.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical specifications and develop project execution strategies.
  • Knowledge of product lines, substitutes, and supplier pricing policies preferred.
  • Strong PC skills: Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Business Development Managers, Demand Gen & Distribution Leaders, and sales staff to align project execution with profitability.
  • Projects may involve substations, power transmission, wind/solar energy, data Telco, HV industrial, commercial, or residential construction and industrial.
  • Oversee customer support activities and direct issue resolution, including expediting, pricing, follow-up, and returns.
  • Provide timely follow-up on technical inquiries and requests from customers.
  • Develop and manage project schedules; adjust plans based on evolving risks and customer needs.
  • Maintain teamwork and communication to balance workload within the project team.
  • Complete project group job forms with customer information for each project handled.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, negotiate pricing and delivery terms, escalate risks as needed.
  • Manage all financials related to the project; ensure alignment with margins.
  • Coordinate with Demand Generation to start-up and complete assigned projects.
