Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking a Manager of Strategic Programs and Operations to partner with the Edwin C. Gentzler Translation Center Director.

The role advances strategic growth through education programming, language services, and community partnerships, overseeing projects and supervising students and vendors for workshops and outreach initiatives. The position is a one-year limited-term with possible renewal based on funding, offering hybrid work and opportunities to strengthen center visibility

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Five years of experience in public education, language access, translation, interpreting, or closely related fields.
Familiarity with language services standards and ethics.
Fluency in at least one language other than English.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

Assist the Director with strategic initiatives and program development.
Oversee translation and interpreting education workshops and training sessions.
Teach workshops on multilingual communication policies and interpreting strategies.
Lead project management and negotiations for language projects and billing processes.
Plan and coordinate outreach events and professional development opportunities.
