Job summary

Spike Electric Controls in Texas seeks a Production Planner to translate the master schedule into actionable plans for fabrication, procurement, and outsourced operations. You will set daily and weekly priorities, sequence work, ensure readiness, and release work to Production only after sign-off.

You will collaborate with master scheduling, PMO, production control, engineering, and vendors to overcome shortages and coordinate material availability.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in production planning, production control, scheduling, material planning, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, engineered-to-order, project-based, or industrial production environment.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, production schedules, BOMs, routers, travelers, and material status tracking.
  • Ability to coordinate across Production, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, follow-up discipline, and ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and common business systems.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the master schedule into executable plans for Fabrication, Procurement, and Outsourced Operations.
  • Develop clear daily, weekly, and project-level priorities usable by departments and execution teams.
  • Sequence work based on schedule requirements, capacity, materials, and readiness.
  • Ensure work packages are complete and ready before release to Production.
  • Maintain visibility to upcoming and in-process work and upcoming final assembly.
  • Plan and monitor all purchased material, raw materials, and outsourced work for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with Buyers and Vendors to validate material status and schedule impact.
  • Coordinate outsourced fabrication and other vendor-performed operations.
  • Identify vendor risks and communicate recovery needs.
  • Confirm material, drawings, travelers, BOMs, routing, and required documentation are ready before release.
  • Authorize material delivery to Production when readiness checks are satisfied.
  • Protect the rule that nothing is issued to Production without Planner sign-off.
  • Identify shortages, incorrect or damaged material, and coordinate resolution.
  • Maintain data in ERP/MRP, trackers, and other systems.
  • Support continuous improvement of planning processes.
