Job summary

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Counsel in its Litigation group. The preferred location is Midland, MI, but Houston, TX will also be considered.

Your assignment will include litigation management for Dow and its affiliated companies across product liability and asbestos personal injury matters. You will independently provide legal counsel, review and draft documents, manage external counsel, coordinate with internal experts, and oversee staff while setting strategic direction and

Qualifications

• Juris doctor or Master of Laws; licensed to practice in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Independently provide legal counsel to clients.
• Provide client legal training and education on a variety of topics.
• Review and draft legal documents.
• Actively manage external counsel and experts.
• Collaborate with internal legal subject matter experts and other Company resources.
• Oversee paralegals and staff in the Legal Department and coordinating with business and clients regarding discovery.
• Establish and monitor expense budgets.
• Set strategic direction for each case and related docket.
• Develop and implement settlement strategies.
• Proactively communicate to Legal Department management and clients.
• Participate directly in key depositions, hearings and trials.
• Oversee appellate issues.
