Job summary

Dow offers an exciting opportunity for a Counsel in its Litigation group. The preferred location is Midland, MI, but Houston, TX will also be considered.

This role includes litigation management for Dow and its affiliated companies, covering a broad range of cases including asbestos personal injury and other product liability matters. The attorney will independently provide legal counsel, draft and review documents, manage external counsel, and coordinate with internal experts.

Qualifications

• Juris doctor or Master of Laws required.
• Minimum of 7 years practicing as an attorney.
• Admission to State Bar or eligible for admission.
• Willing and able to travel up to 25% annually.
• U.S. work authorization required; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Independently provide legal counsel to clients.
• Provide client legal training and education on a variety of topics.
• Review and draft legal documents.
• Actively manage external counsel and experts.
• Collaborate with internal legal subject matter experts and other Company resources.
• Oversee paralegals and administrative staff in the Legal Department and coordinating with business and functional clients within Dow and its affiliated companies concerning discovery.
• Establish and monitor expense budgets.
• Set strategic direction for each case and related docket of cases.
• Develop and implement settlement strategies.
• Proactively communicate to Legal Department management and clients.
• Participate directly in key depositions, hearings and trials.
• Oversee appellate issues.
