Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking a dedicated Purchasing professional to negotiate buys for quality produce and maintain inventory to meet customer demand. This role works with cross-functional teams to optimize costs and ensure timely deliveries in a fast-paced foodservice environment.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of purchasing experience and a background in procurement, with CPP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience.
• 1 - 2 years Purchasing or related area.
• Associates/2-year technical: Procurement, business management or related area.
• 2-4 years of purchasing produce and/or perishables experience within foodservice industry.
• Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP).

Responsibilities

• Attain targeted profit margins as determined by the company's business goals. Maintain produce costing and pricing and ensure accurate purchase orders.
• Effectively implement buying/purchasing strategies such that produce is purchased in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
• Manage protein inventory levels to the designated goal level.
• Effectively manage the disposition of obsolete produce inventory.
• Consult with vendors regarding current orders and new produce products. Initiate orders, schedule deliveries and process related paperwork and documentation.
• Provide product and pricing information to sales staff. Investigate produce product quality complaints.
• Complete special projects, as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
