Job summary

Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor within the Performance Food Group family, is seeking a Produce Purchaser to negotiate quality produce at competitive prices and maintain inventories to meet customer demand.

You will work with vendors, sales staff, and cross-functional teams to optimize pricing, secure favorable terms, and ensure timely deliveries while supporting the distribution network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience.
• 1-2 years Purchasing or related area.
• Associates/2-year technical: Procurement, business management or related area.
• 2-4 years of purchasing produce and/or perishables experience within foodservice industry.
• Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP)

Responsibilities

• Attain targeted profit margins as determined by the company's business goals. Maintain produce costing and pricing and ensure accurate purchase orders.
• Effectively implement buying/purchasing strategies such that produce is purchased in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
• Manage protein inventory levels to the designated goal level.
• Effectively manage the disposition of obsolete produce inventory.
• Consult with vendors regarding current orders and new produce products. Initiate orders, schedule deliveries and process related paperwork and documentation. Provide product and pricing information to sales staff. Investigate produce product quality complaints.
• Complete special projects, as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
