Job summary

Klondike Cheese Co. is seeking a Purchasing/Procurement professional for our Monroe, WI location. The role focuses on sourcing materials, negotiating with vendors, and maintaining strong supplier relationships to meet production needs.

The successful candidate will manage inventories, develop purchasing strategies, and ensure regulatory compliance, including HACCP standards. Excellent communication and Excel/ERP skills are essential for success in our fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Purchasing experience in food industry preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency in Excel and Inventory Management Software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with contract negotiation.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Good mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of HACCP and current food safety regulations.
• Knowledge of food ingredients and packaging manufacturing processes.
• Strong audit techniques and follow up.

Responsibilities

• Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies to meet production demands.
• Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies to meet production schedules.
• Confer with supervisors to assess progress and discuss changes.
• Develop purchasing strategies, including forecasting and stocking.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate terms.
• Approve and issue purchase orders and monitor on-time deliveries.
• Process purchase orders, vendor invoices, and receivables.
• Create and maintain vendor contracts and files.
• Collaborate with management, sales, vendors, and customers to maintain strong relationships.
• Create and review inventory reports for current, slow, excess, and obsolete stock.
