Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing and category management initiatives across high-value procurements for WMATA. You will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, manage supplier performance, and align programs with agency objectives.

The role also involves leading a team of procurement professionals, driving process improvements, and building strong vendor relationships to optimize spend and service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
• Advanced education and/or training in supply management, public procurement and contract negotiation.
• Must obtain a procurement certification within two years of hire (e.g., NCMA, NIGP, ISM).
• Ten years of procurement administration and management experience in large public programs.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements sourcing strategies to increase productivity and reduce costs.
• Lead category management and supplier relationships, including KPI and SLAs.
• Oversee bid/proposal processes, contract development, and negotiations.
• Improve internal processes to boost productivity and efficiency (Spend/FTE).
• Ensure supplier performance and compliance with procurement policies.
