Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a procurement lead to drive purchasing for multiple commodities, ensuring compliant PO execution and strategic supplier engagement. You will support transformational initiatives and ongoing operations, acting as a SME to improve purchasing processes, metrics, and cross-functional collaboration.

The role requires a bachelor's degree, 6+ years of experience, and SAP/Ariba experience. You will collaborate with Planning, Material Control, and Legal teams to maximize value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
• 6+ years of relevant work experience.
• Professional certification such as CPM or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities for assigned commodities, including solicitations, supplier negotiations, cost and price analysis, contract administration, and purchase order management.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts while assessing and mitigating risks with management and legal as needed.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance to improve cost, quality, delivery, and supply chain effectiveness.
• Serve as procurement SME and liaison to stakeholders guiding processes, systems, sourcing strategies, and SOWs.
