Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Lead Buying/Procurement Specialist to manage the purchasing process for assigned goods. You will liaise with vendors and shop floor to minimize production impacts.

The role requires a solid foundation in purchasing concepts and leadership to train the team as needed. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or at least 3 years in purchasing, with proven international buying experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
• Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing or materials
• Experience in international/global buying
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Lean manufacturing knowledge

Responsibilities

• Place and follow up on Purchase Orders
• Communicate deliveries to internal customers
• Analyze vendor promises and expedite when needed
• Manage schedule changes and execute PO changes
• Own and resolve day-to-day vendor issues (AP issues, NCMR, delivery)
• Maintain daily standard work and weekly fulfillment metrics
• Collaborate across Engineering, Sourcing and Quality to resolve material issues
• Balance tactical execution with cost-reduction initiatives
• Participate in supplier performance reviews
• Present at Critical Part Review meetings when needed
• Suggest improvements to standard work and daily activities
