Job summary

CB&I is seeking a Buyer/Procurement professional to identify sources, evaluate bids, and manage purchase orders for steel plates and related commodities. You will interact with engineering, operations and estimating teams, ensuring compliance with technical specs and quality standards.

Responsibilities include preparing bid documents, distributing RFQs, negotiating terms, and driving cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining schedule integrity.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Supply Chain, Business, Technical/Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with steel plate procurement and supplier evaluation.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Proactively embraces and promotes the company's HSE requirements and culture.
• Prepares contract documents and bidders lists, seeks out new potential bidders.
• Assembles and distributes requests for quotation from vendors.
• Purchases material and services at or below estimate using procurement processes aligned with schedules.
• Performs bid evaluations and issues purchase orders for commodities and finished goods.
• Negotiates small to medium value POs for regional and international purchases.
• Assists with evaluation, award and conforming processes.
• Resolves simple claims or disputes with vendors.
• Solicits budgetary pricing to support estimating/proposals for projects.
• Recommends and implements improvements to tools, systems and software.
• Exemplifies the company's Leadership Competencies and mentors others.
