Job summary

Howard University is seeking a Business Process & Improvement Manager to lead enterprise-wide process redesign and continuous improvement initiatives. You will partner with academic and administrative units to optimize operations, document requirements, and implement sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Organizational Development, Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Progressively responsible experience in business process improvement or organizational effectiveness.
• Knowledge of Lean, Lean Six Sigma, BPM or similar frameworks.
• Experience mapping workflows and engaging stakeholders across units.
• Understanding change management for enterprise implementations.
• Ability to analyze data and present insights for decision-making.
• Ability to influence outcomes without direct supervisory authority.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and process mapping/project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead process analysis, redesign, and improvement initiatives across units.
• Facilitate discovery sessions, interviews, and workshops for current- to future-state mapping.
• Develop requirements, SOPs, and process documentation to support programs.
• Partner with leadership and vendors to implement improvements aligned with priorities.
• Identify inefficiencies and standardization opportunities with practical solutions.
• Support change management, communications, and training activities.
• Establish KPIs and monitor performance to drive continuous improvement.
• Serve as a resource on BPM practices and organizational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the Office of Business Optimization on enterprise-wide transformations.
