Job summary

BLOX is seeking a strategic Senior Preconstruction Estimating Manager to lead preconstruction and estimating across DMC delivery projects. You will drive accurate pricing, manage risk, and lead value engineering while partnering with design, manufacturing, and construction teams across the business.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a track record of delivering competitive estimates.

Qualifications

4-7 years experience in construction or preconstruction estimating.
Experience with estimating, scheduling, and project management software.
Ability to lead meetings, presentations, and client interactions.
Ability to build relationships, earn trust, and influence stakeholders.
Strong understanding of construction methods, cost control, and risk management.
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead estimating efforts to drive competitive, accurate project pricing.
Assign and oversee estimating tasks for support staff based on project needs and timelines.
Develop detailed estimates, cost models, and basis of estimates including assumptions and qualifications.
Perform quantity takeoffs, labor estimates, and work plans for self-perform scopes (e.g., concrete, carpentry).
Prepare estimates across all phases (conceptual, schematic, design development, GMP).
Conduct risk analysis and clearly communicate findings to leadership.
Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with company goals and profitability targets.
Lead value engineering and constructability reviews to optimize project outcomes.
Coordinate closely with Design Manufacture Construction, MEP, BIM, and Operations teams.
Support change management estimating and monitor scope changes impacting cost and schedule.
Maintain and enhance estimating databases, including Bills of Materials.
Ensure accurate and timely handoff from preconstruction to operations.
Collaborate with Business Development on proposals, presentations, and new work acquisition.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners.
Participate in contract review, negotiations, and final GMP pricing with clients.
Monitor department performance, improving accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of estimates.
Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process enhancements.
