Job summary

Incommunities seeks a Senior Policy and External Affairs Manager to shape influential policy positions and lead public affairs and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with the CEO, Executive Team and Board to translate policy insight into strategic action, advising on risks and opportunities across national to local levels.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in policy, public affairs, stakeholder engagement or strategic communications.
• Experience developing influencing or reputation-building activity that supports organisational objectives.
• Experience advising and briefing senior leaders with evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience managing media or PR activity, including spokespeople on sensitive issues.
• Ability to operate at strategic and delivery levels with sound judgement and hands-on delivery.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a close working relationship with the Chief Executive to provide strategic advice and horizon-scanning insight.
• Monitor and analyse housing and related public policy changes through horizon scanning and insight gathering.
• Provide timely briefings to Executives on risks, opportunities and emerging policy issues.
• Coordinate contribution to development of local and national policy, including consultations and evidence calls.
• Translate policy insight into practical implications to inform decision-making.
• Support spokespeople with briefing materials and media preparation.
• Shape messaging with Communications to deliver a joined-up Public Relations and Public Affairs plan.
• Provide strategic counsel on high-profile issues and ensure alignment of strategy and external positioning.
• Develop integrated influencing campaigns on priority issues using policy insight and evidence.
• Plan and coordinate stakeholder events and meetings to support influencing objectives.
• Evaluate effectiveness of influencing, reputation and stakeholder activity and adapt approaches accordingly.
• Provide line management and professional development for the PR Specialist.
