Job summary

Shaw Industries Group, Inc. is seeking a Director of Payroll Services to lead enterprise-wide payroll strategy and governance for ~18,000 associates.

This role reports to the VP of Total Rewards and manages a 20+ team, overseeing a multimillion-dollar budget and global payroll operations, including tax reporting and HR tech modernization. The position emphasizes strategic influence, technology-enabled transformation, and cross-functional collaboration with HR, Finance, IT, and external partners

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in payroll, HR operations, Total Rewards, or related leadership roles preferred.
• Deep expertise in payroll operations, payroll tax and accounting, wage and hour requirements, employment law, audit controls, and SOX compliance.
• Knowledge of U.S. multi-state and international payroll models, governance, vendors, and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of Workday, automation, AI, analytics, and emerging HR technologies.

Responsibilities

• Sets enterprise strategy for payroll, time and attendance, payroll tax & accounting, and related HR processes.
• Serves as a strategic HR advisor on payroll, labor costs, compliance, associate experience, and operational performance.
• Leads payroll transformation and modernization initiatives that improve accuracy, scalability, efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
• Oversees payroll governance, policies, controls, audits, tax reporting, SOX compliance, and federal, state, local, and international requirements.
• Establishes KPIs, dashboards, service levels, and workforce analytics to drive data-informed business decisions.
• Represents Payroll Services in enterprise workforce strategy, HR technology, AI, automation, and transformation initiatives.
