Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its payroll shared services team in Michigan. You will support all functional areas of payroll, work closely with Payroll Managers across Regional Health Ministries, and ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining strict confidentiality.

The role emphasizes processing tax setup/withholding, garnishments, banking, and year-end activities; you will reconcile data, run audits, and collaborate on system

Qualifications

• Associate degree with major coursework in bookkeeping, accounting or related field.
• 3–5 years of payroll experience in a multi-entity and multi-state organization.
• Experience with payroll tax, state reciprocity rules, garnishments.
• Knowledge of FLSA, banking ACH/settlement, internal controls.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates Trinity Health Mission, Vision and Values in behavior and decisions.
• Maintains procedures in compliance with Federal and State regulations to analyze and monitor payroll functions.
• Supports relationships with vendors and internal departments for auditing and ensuring accurate payroll withholdings and payments.
• Reviews and balances payroll tax information and completes tax reports in a multi-state environment.
• Ensures payroll cycle components (tax, benefits, banking) are processed, reconciled, audited, and transmitted accurately.
• Performs quarter-end and year-end payroll activities and assists Payroll Managers with compliance and accuracy.
