Job summary

Progress Michigan is seeking a full-time Communications and Partnerships Associate to support our partners with a broad range of communications work, primarily in Detroit and Lansing. You will write, edit, and pitch materials, support media events, and help grow partners' communications capacity.

The role involves collaborating with internal teams and statewide partners to execute strategic media campaigns, while reporting to the Communications Director.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of political issues impacting Michiganders.
• Experience or education in political, public relations, media or related communications fields.
• Ability to write professional communications materials.
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to manage goals within a team environment.
• Sense of humor and appropriate judgment in messaging.
• Candidates must be located in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit and advise on partner communications materials.
• Manage and develop communications and media strategies for partners.
• Coordinate with Progress Michigan’s digital and creative teams to develop materials.
• Pitch to and engage with members of the media.
• Conduct trainings in communications and media for partners.
• Edit and review Progress Michigan communications materials.
• Represent Progress Michigan on partner coalition calls and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
