Job summary

Sarasota County's Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources (PRNR) team seeks a leader to oversee the Parks Internal Operations Division, providing strategic direction, budget oversight, asset management, and coordination with staff, contractors, and external partners to keep parks and natural resources thriving for the community.

You will develop policies, implement maintenance plans, map assets with Maximo and GIS, and mentor staff while helping advance accessibility and lifecycle standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of professional experience related to the position, including at least 4 years of supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree can substitute for two years of professional experience.
• Advanced professional certification desirable; construction background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Parks Internal Operations Division in developing and implementing division goals.
• Collaborate with staff and contractors to maintain well‑kept parks and venues and plan park projects.
• Prioritize projects based on asset age, condition, need and funding; schedule preventive maintenance.
• Administer and manage the division’s operating budget and capital programs.
• Develop operating impacts for capital projects and coordinate reporting with the management team.
• Capture park assets in Maximo and assist GIS mapping efforts; track asset condition and plan repairs or lifecycle actions.
