Job summary

Heron Data is seeking a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO and help run the Business Operations function. You will span finance, people operations, business reviews, and quarterly planning, owning both ongoing work and strategic projects from budgeting to hiring and progress tracking.

You'll contribute across finance, operations, and strategy, help set priorities for the next quarter, and drive initiatives like market assessments or new business lines.

Qualifications

• Ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps.
• Organized and reliable with deadlines and recurring work.
• Clear communicator to engineers, customers, and the board.
• Comfortable with data and using SQL to pull numbers.

Responsibilities

• Finance: budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting; understand revenue, costs, and spending.
• People operations: hiring plans, onboarding, processes supporting employees and managers.
• Business reviews: bring together metrics, explain changes, help leadership identify issues and next steps.
• Quarterly planning: set priorities, goals, plan people and budget, track progress.
• Company and customer analysis: answer questions about performance and areas to improve.
• Internal processes and systems: improve how work gets done and keep processes reliable.
• Lead projects from start to finish, including entering a new market or launching a new business line.
