Job summary

WAMU 88.5, a public media station operated by American University, seeks a Senior Director of Strategic Operations. You will serve as a strategic advisor to the COO, lead enterprise initiatives, and establish operating cadence across the organization to drive accountable execution.

In this hybrid role (3–4 days on campus in Washington, DC), you will design governance, measure performance, and partner with leaders across Finance, Technology, Advancement, People & Culture, and Content to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience in operations or strategic program leadership.
• Master's degree preferred; 10+ years experience preferred.
• Experience advising executives and leading cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise initiatives aligned to the Operating Plan and set success metrics.
• Design and govern the enterprise framework and standards.
• Orchestrate the operating rhythm with planning reviews and executive reporting.
• Influence senior leaders across functions to ensure accountable execution.
• Identify risks and opportunities; drive continuous improvement.
