Job summary

American University in Washington, DC is seeking a Director of Enterprise Initiatives in Operations. You will partner with senior leaders to design and execute enterprise‑level programs, establish operating cadences, and ensure accountability across functions.

This hybrid role requires 3–4 days on campus and a track record of delivering complex initiatives. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of relevant experience (Master’s preferred) and strong skills with portfolio

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in operations or strategic project leadership.
• Experience advising executive leadership and leading enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Expertise with project and portfolio management tools (Asana, Smartsheet, Monday.com).

Responsibilities

• Drive enterprise initiatives tied to the Operating Plan and advise executive leadership on priorities.
• Translate strategy into actionable enterprise execution plans with defined success metrics.
• Maintain focus, anticipate challenges, and ensure delivery milestones are met.
• Design and implement an enterprise framework governing strategic initiatives and priorities.
• Lead the organization’s operating rhythm, including planning and executive reporting.
• Coach leaders in strategic execution, accountability, and enterprise collaboration.
• Develop executive decision-support materials synthesizing performance, risks and opportunities.
