Job summary

WAMU 88.5, a public media station owned and operated by American University, seeks a Senior Director of Executive Engagement to partner with the General Manager and senior leadership to craft and execute executive messaging and engagement strategies.

The role serves as a trusted strategic advisor and leads executive communications, stakeholder engagement, governance support, and high-profile institutional engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience in executive communications or strategic operations.
• Master’s degree preferred for advanced leadership roles.
• Strong writing, presentation, and relationship management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute executive messaging strategies aligning with organizational priorities.
• Lead executive communications, stakeholder engagement, governance support, and external engagements.
• Advise the General Manager on communications and stakeholder engagement approaches.
• Oversee preparation for internal and external engagements, including briefing materials and speaking points.
