Job summary

Sidley Austin LLP is seeking a Practice Group Manager for the NY Litigation group. The role reports to the NYLPG Head and the Practice Group Director - Litigation, providing high-level administrative support and contributing to the development of attorneys.

The PGM will collaborate across departments to implement processes, support talent management, onboarding, and associate lifecycle initiatives, and help optimize staffing and performance evaluations within a complex, multi-office environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. and at least four years of practice experience, preferably at a peer law firm.
• Proficient in litigation terminology and concepts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, scheduling tools, Excel, and related applications.
• Strong ability to manage complex priorities and deadlines.
• Flexible in adapting to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the NYLPG through organization of practice group meetings and development of communications, agendas, and presentation materials.
• Work with relevant departments and practice groups to identify, design and implement process improvements.
• Support strategic firmwide/Global Practice Group initiatives and cross-practice projects.
• Act as a liaison for other administrative departments and resources by providing information, data, and key metrics.
• Provide needs assessments for lateral and first-year associate hires for the NYLPG in coordination with Legal Recruiting targets and onboarding processes.
• Develop rubrics for skill development and oversee progress toward development by NYLPG associates.
• Act as liaison to facilitate workflow, evaluate associate capacity, and plan staffing across offices.
• Oversee attorney performance appraisals and compensation adjustment processes with leadership.
• Support presentation memos for internal partnership candidates.
• Identify and plan practice group-specific training programs.
• Support mentoring and retention initiatives.
