Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a highly motivated engineer to join the fleet support team to address operating fleet and shipyard technical issues and to develop leadership skills in the power plant engineering field. Responsibilities include driving innovations to improve steam and reactor plant performance, resolving fleet issues, and supporting changes to procedures, manuals, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field.
• Hands-on experience with technical evaluations and reports is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation initiatives to improve steam and reactor plant performance and maintenance.
• Provide resolution of operating fleet and shipyard technical issues.
• Support changes to shipboard procedures and manuals; assist installation and operation.
• Prioritize tasks to ensure technical deliverables meet schedules and budgets.
• Foster teamwork with internal and external organizations; produce formal written recommendations.
