Job summary

United Way of McPherson County in McPherson, Kansas seeks an Executive Director to provide visionary and strategic leadership for a county with 30,000 residents. The role demands building partnerships, guiding a diverse board, and advancing community outcomes through clear planning and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in non-profit or similar environment.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online.
• Graduate-level education related to nonprofit management or human services is a plus, leadership experience helps; bilingualism.

Responsibilities

• Strategic direction: work with the Board to achieve mission through a multi-year plan, establish action plans and metrics, lead execution.
• Fundraising, communications and visibility: develop diverse revenue streams, lead major gifts and public outreach, and raise the organization’s profile.
• General management, finance and administration: ensure day-to-day operations, financial health, adherence to budget, and compliance.
• Board relations: engage the Board, coordinate committees, and recruit new members aligned with mission.
• Partner agency engagement and relations: foster mutual respect and clear performance expectations with partner agencies; facilitate allocation processes.
