Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a knowledgeable Comptroller to lead accounting, budgeting and financial reporting for the division, including grants and compliance across DHQ, corps and programs.

You will partner with the Director of Finance to ensure GAAP adherence, strong internal controls, and timely financial statements, while supervising AP/AR staff and coordinating with program leadership to safeguard resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required.
• CPA, CMA or Master’s degree preferred but not required.
• 3 - 5 years accounting experience preferably in a nonprofit environment with multi-source grants.
• Experience working with city, county, state or federal funding streams strongly preferred.
• Supervisory experience in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivables or accounting roles is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Regular budget consolidation and financial reporting across DHQ, Corps, programs and service locations.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable with staff supervision and timely processing.
• Support grant accounting, compliance, documentation and match requirements.
• Maintain internal controls and accurate general ledger, COA and financial coding.
• Assist in audits, month-end close, and variance explanations.
• Collaborate with program leadership to analyze financial health and forecasting.
